Your Ultra Downy® Pure Essentials™ bottle cap has three fill lines. Fill to the lower solid line for medium loads, to the middle line for large loads and to the upper line for extra large loads. Add to the Downy Ball, machine dispenser or final rinse.

Ultra Downy can be used in high-efficiency (HE) washing machines. HE washing machines generally load from the front instead of the top, use less water and save you money on utility bills. HE washers have a built-in dispenser for fabric softener. For great results, use Ultra Downy in your HE dispenser. Follow your manufacturer's instructions when using the dispenser. However, because of the different way an HE machine agitates, you cannot use the Downy Ball in an HE washer.

For pour-and-go convenience, use the Downy Ball with Downy Pure Essentials. Simply fill the ball as directed with Downy Pure Essentials, seal it and drop it in the machine at the start of the wash. No waiting around until the rinse cycle! The Downy Ball has a fill line so you know just how much to pour, or you can use your bottle cap to measure before filling the Downy Ball.
